Blackberry to stop making mobile phones

This may come as no surprise to some, bu Blackberry has officially announced that that are no longer making mobile phones. Blackberry was one of the major companies in mobile phones, but failed to keep up with the rise of Android and Apples iOS. This SMH article has more information about it.

Telstra to trial 5G mobile technology

As you may be aware Telstra is currently trialing the next phase of mobile technology , which is called 5G. 5G mobile internet is promising faster speeds of access to the internet on mobile devices than what is currently offered by 4G. Telecos around the world are currently trialing it to bring to main stream devices by 2019. It is expected to allow consumers to download HD videos at a faster rate than our current broadband speeds.  Read more about it  here  on this SMH article published last week. Google's new phone event

While there is a lot of buzz around Apple's iPhone 7, Google could be announcing their new phones on 4th October (5th October at 2am AEST). As it is being reported on a number of sites that Google will be announcing a new phone, unless it is new hardware. The Google advertisement on YouTube for the event on October 4 offers little clues want it could unveiling. The phones could be called pixel. For more information see this  SMH article . Watch this space I will have more information on this when it is announced. In other Google news, the new version of Android is called Nouga it will be released sometime this year again I will update this blog when it is released. Sony's New PS4 consoles

On the same day as the Apple event was happening, Sony announced two new PS4 consoles. One is a slimier version of the current PS4 model called (no surprise) PS4 Slim, it features a new design that will replace the current PS4 model. The other model that was announced was the PS4 Pro a more powerful version of the current PS4 and supports 4K games and HDR. It also boasts other advanced features like a faster processor and faster connectivity. Note that it does not have a 4K Blu-ray player. Both consoles will support HDR and even the current PS4 will through a software update.  They will also support Playstation VR due to be released on 13th October. Apple iPhone 7 announced

Yesterday morning (3am AEST) Apple announced at their annual September event the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. These new phones are the first to be Water resistant and Dust resistant. They also are the first phones to not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, instead there is Apple's new AirPods that are wireless earphones that connect to the phone by a chip(available in October) to the phone.  The phones do come with the EarPods with lighting adapter. The new iPhones are available in Black,Jet Black, Rose Gold, Gold and Sliver and in 128GB and 256GB storage options. More information can be found  Apple's Australian Website . Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall

As you may know Samsung has now officially recalled all Galaxy Note 7 sold here in Australia. This is part of a global recall of the device after it was reported that there were a number of cases where the battery would overheat when charging and explode. See Samsung's official recall notice for device here . If you have the device it is recommended  that you return it to where you purchased it from. This could not come at a worse time for Samsung as Apple is just days away from announcing the expected iPhone 7. This case highlights the needs for companies to properly test their devices before they go on sale.
